Kaiserslautern Day Tripper Weekend Edition Nov 28-Dec 1

This Saturday we plan to take the ultimate Christmas Market train trip. Taking regional trains only, we are going to try the bold challenge of visiting five Christmas Markets in a single day 🚉🎄. If you are ready to check out the 5 Market Challenge and much more, then this post is for you!

**5 Markets by Train Challenge 🚉

So we’re going to try the bold challenge of visiting five Christmas Markets on Saturday. Whether or not you try to do all five, all these markets are easily accessible by regional train transport and are open this weekend. Give your car the weekend off and take the train!

*Neustadt Weihnachtsmarkt (Nov 25-Dec 22)

So we’ll leave the Kaiserslautern HBF and take the RE1 at 1034, arriving at Neustadt (Weinstraße) at 1058. Only a five minute walk, we’ll get to the market shortly after it opens at 11am. We’ll be back at the Hauptbahnhof with enough time to catch the 1203 train to Mannheim.

*Mannheim Weihnachtsmarkt (Nov 25-Dec 23)

We’ll catch the S1 that departs at 1203 from Neustadt and arrive at Mannheim at 1234. The Christmas is a 10 minute walk from the HBF. We will grab a Glühwein and return in time to catch the 1339 to Worms.

*Worms (Nov 20-Dec 23)

We’ll catch the RE that departs Mannheim at 1339. After a quick transfer in Biblis, we’ll arrive in Worms at 1414 and walk 10 minutes to the Christmas Market. We’ll actually have almost two hours to enjoy this market. We will be back at the HBF to catch the 1617 to Mainz.

*Mainz Weihnachtsmarkt (Nov 28-Dec 23)

From Worms, we’ll catch the RE14 at 1617 and arrive Mainz at 1652. We’ll have to move fast, because it’s a 15 minute walk to the Christmas Market. We’ll grab a Glühwein and head back to catch the train at 1827 to Bad Kreuznach.

*Bad Kreuznach Nikolausmarkt (Nov 22-Dec 22)

Last one! We’ll arrive Bad Kreuznach at 1900 and walk 10 minutes to the Nikolausmarkt. We’ll return to the train station with enough time to catch the 2031 train to Kaiserslautern.

Bonus: We’ll arrive Kaiserslautern at 2130. If we are up to it, we’ll try to catch the Kaiserslautern Weihnachtsmarkt before it closes. Then we could say we did six 😉.
